Cerium

Cerium

The particularity of cerium is its higher density in the liquid state than in the solid state. Although it is a rare earth element, it is nonetheless fairly easy to find: in fact, cerium is more abundant on Earth than Copper (Cu), so it is considered to be the least rare of the rare earth elements! Its first use dates back to the 19th century, when it was used for town gas lighting. Since then, cerium has been used in many fields.
