As it is present only in small quantities on the earth's surface, dysprosium is artificially manufactured for industrial use. Dysprosium is well-known in the aeronautics sector for its effects in increasing the hardness of a material. Dysprosium is also used in the nuclear field in combination with Titanium (Ti): this alloy provides good resistance to radiation and temperature.
