Ammonium heptamolybdate is a chemical compound generally in tetrahydrate form. It is easily prepared by dissolving molybdenum trioxide in an excess of an aqueous solution of ammonia and then evaporating the solution at room temperature. The excess ammonia escapes as the solution evaporates, leaving six-sided prisms of ammonium heptamolybdate.
