Sodium molybdate, mainly in its dihydrated form, is a salt widely used as a source of molybdenum. It was first synthesized by the hydration method. A more practical synthesis is carried out by dissolving MoO3 in sodium hydroxide at 50-70°C and crystallising the filtered product.
