Praseodymium, with the symbol Pr, part of the Lanthanide series belongs to the RARE EARTH elements group. Rare earth resources are abundant, but not often found concentrated in rare-earth minerals, hence their name. The most abundant are cerium, neodymium and lanthanum. Praseodymium(III) oxide is a chemical compound of praseodymium and oxygen, and has the chemical formula Pr2O3. It forms hexagonal crystals. It is a highly insoluble and thermally stable source of praseodymium, suitable for glass, optical and ceramic applications.
